THE SONG OF WOOD
In the spiritual life of the people of Bucovina, the folk song and dancing play a main role. That is why, the manufacturing of musical instruments has become an art, and the wood for resonance taken from the forests of Bucovina is acknowledged and appreciated in the whole Europe.
The violin, the kobsa, the dulcimer are made of spruce of resonance. The whistle, the Romanian traditional country-side drums (used during the New Year's festivities), the alpenhorn and the semantron (used especially in the church rituals) are made of different kinds of wood.
Thus, in time have appeared not only crafts and trades specialized both in finding, choosing and processing of wood, proper for different musical instruments, but also craftsmen specialized in making these delicate wooden objects.
