THE WARMTH OF WOOD
Besides its use in making houses and goods necessary for the daily life, the wood has permanently been the heating source for the people in Bucovina.
It was and is still used to warm up the houses which have stoves and to prepare the food inside or outside the house, in the yard; the shepherds still prepare the sheepfold products at the wood fire even today.
The wood was used as a fuel in the small village industry, such as the locksmith's workshops and the lime furnace or to produce the charcoal. Moreover, the wood was very useful for the engines with steams produced in the boilers heated by burning wood, such as sawmills and the forest engines.
