THE WOOD CRAFT

For centuries the main objects existing in the households of the people in Bucovina have been made of wood. That is why one can speak about a whole wood civilization.

The inventory of the ancient wooden tools that the people in Bucovina used to manufacture and use is impressive: wooden pails, maces, scepters, hunting traps, leashes and flows for fishing, hives, gigs and torches made of resin used for fishing, balms, spoons and large spoons, tuns, barrels, scythe handle, axes, rakes, pitch forks, big forks with two teeth, milk buckets, nails, fulling mill, flails, garlic sauce wooden pot, pestles, pepper casters, stands, spinning distaffs, winders, spindles, backless benches, tables, cradles, hope chests, beds, pegs, separator for the extraction of honey from the honeycomb, reels, wooden ploughs, harrows, well poles, sweeps, etc.
